Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: 14.05.2026

Introduction

At ELEMIS, our mission is to deliver skin wellness and self-care for everybody, every day. That commitment extends to how we design and deliver our digital experiences. We want our website and online services to be accessible, inclusive and usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.

This Accessibility Statement applies to the ELEMIS website available at elemis.com/uk, including its e-commerce features and digital content.

Our Commitment

We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification software or voice input.

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We are actively working to identify, prioritise, and remediate accessibility barriers across our digital services, and we are committed to being transparent about our current compliance status.

Technical Specification

Our website is designed and tested with the following assistive technologies and interaction modes as our target:

  • Screen readers, including NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom and text resizing up to 200%
  • High contrast and forced-colour display modes

Post-launch user testing with individuals who use assistive technologies, including an internal developer with visual impairment, is planned to validate real-world compatibility across these environments. Results will inform our ongoing remediation priorities.

The website is built to be compatible with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

Measures We Are Taking

To embed accessibility systematically across our digital platform, we:

  • Partner with Allyant, our specialist accessibility consultancy, to conduct annual manual audits of key pages across our website
  • Run automated monthly accessibility audits using AXE, integrated directly into our CI/CD pipeline, with audit outputs versioned and retained indefinitely in our Git repository for auditability
  • Validate all designs using a WCAG-standardised plugin in Figma before development handover, with a consistent toolset adopted across our design team
  • Enforce automated accessibility testing via Playwright as part of our QA release cycle, with accessibility checks embedded in every sprint
  • Apply WCAG-informed design standards across all digital experiences, including sufficient colour contrast ratios, descriptive link and button labels, visible focus states, adequate touch targets, and pause/stop controls for any motion elements
  • Enforce AI-generated alt text for all images at the point of upload to our digital asset management system, with a secondary AI-generation layer in our ecommerce CMS and a hard publication gate that prevents any image being published without alt text
  • Require all new hires in eCommerce, and Digital IT to complete accessibility training within 90 days of joining, with annual refresher training for all relevant staff
  • Maintain a prohibition on accessibility overlay widgets in line with recognised best practice
  • Maintain a designated accessibility contact at [email protected], operated by our Data Protection & Compliance team

Known Limitations

We are aware of specific accessibility barriers that currently exist on our website and have not yet been fully resolved. These include issues affecting keyboard navigation in certain interactive overlays, and the accessibility of form and modal components for screen reader users. We are actively remediating these issues as part of our ongoing development programme.

Other parts of our website may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA in all areas. We are working to identify and resolve these through our continuous testing and audit programme.

If you encounter a barrier, please contact us at [email protected] and we will do our best to provide an accessible alternative or workaround while a permanent fix is being developed.

Continuous Improvement

We recognise that accessibility is not a one-time activity. We are committed to ongoing monitoring, testing and improvement of our digital services. This includes:

  • Monthly automated AXE audits of production pages with results retained for trend analysis
  • Annual manual audits by Allyant covering key user journeys across the website
  • Post-launch user testing with disabled users to validate real-world accessibility
  • Regular review of this statement, updated at minimum annually or following any material change to our website, testing infrastructure or applicable standards

Feedback from users plays an important role in helping us identify issues and prioritise enhancements. We actively encourage users to report accessibility barriers to [email protected].
